Little known fact of US/French history. Shortly after D-day in WWII , the Americans were occupying the french countryside at Normandy. Many of these boys were farmers. It was basically a mix of farmers and city boys. The cows had been let free to graze and had not been milked in a long while. Many of these cows were crying due to severe pain from the pressure of the milk. The Americans, still with a love for their cows back home, would often risk their lives to run into the fields and milk the cows to relieve the pressure caused by the excess milk. There are many other strange stories like this about WWII ...After the invasion of Normandy the Germans were using the hedgerows as cover to fight battles and harass the Allies. These were 15' tall WALLS of shrubs which were 5' thick... they were literally walls and were running next to every road. Anyway, one morning a GI goes up to the edge of a hedgerow and start to take a piss. He didn't realize it but a German had actually crawled INTO the hedgerow and was hiding from the Americans and the GI was literally pissing on him. So the German crawls out while the guys pissing on him and says "I SURRENDER! " I always wondered if the German thought the American KNEW he was there and just had the balls to come over and piss on him. via
