As of Tuesday morning, the Bastrop County Complex fire – which was 16 miles long and 6 miles wide—had scorched more than 28,500 acres and destroyed nearly 500 homes. Video shot September 5, 2011 on the north edge of Bastrop State Park. All but about 100 acres of the 6,000-acre park have been blackened by fire.
The biggest contributor factor here is the wind, it helps push the flames at twice the average speed.
